Giving is an integral part of our relationship with God.

  • It acknowledges Him as the giver of everything we have.

  • It reflects our trust that He will continue to provide for us.

  • It allows us to be a part of His work here on Earth.

  • It's a way for us to follow through on what He's asked us to do. In the Bible, God tells us to, "Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best." (Proverbs 3:9 MSG)

  • The Bible teaches us that our baseline standard for giving is the tithe -- contributing 10% of our income to the church. At Ocean Pacific Church, we know tithing has been a turning point for many people to experience the blessings of following Jesus. Feeling unsure? Try it for 3 months and see what happens.

  • When God stirs us to give beyond our tithe, it's referred to as an offering. You can direct your offering to the cause that resonates with you.

 

 

Online Giving Details and FAQ

Our online giving is processed through PayPal.  Please note when giving online PayPal takes 2.9% + $0.30 when money comes from a debit or credit card.  No fee is charged if funds come from PayPal balance or bank account.

There are three simple steps to giving online.  It is simple and secure, and will only take a few moments to go through the process.  We are a 501(c)3 organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible.  At present, all online giving is directed toward our general operating fund.  Note: the official name of Ocean Pacific Church is “Assembly of God of Baywood Park.”  You may see this name appear on the PayPal site.

(1) To make a donation to the church, click the appropriate button below.  (Please note: you do not have to have a PayPal account to make a one-time donation.  You may use your debit card.  However, recurring donations require that you use or set up a PayPal account.)
(2) Once you click the appropriate button below, you will be directed to PayPal’s secure site.  Follow the instructions on the screen to complete your donation.
(3) You will receive an email receipt of your donation, which you will need to save for tax purposes.

Q. I had a problem with the giving process or a question I need to ask.  Who do I contact?

Q. Doesn’t online giving require some extra fees or costs?
A. Not to you.  The full amount that you choose to donate goes to Ocean Pacific Church and is considered a tax-deductible gift.  There is a small fee to the church for the processing of credit and debit cards.

Q. Why do you ask me for my address and other information?
A. This information is needed to confirm that your debit, credit, or bank information really belongs to you.  It also is the information that the church needs in order to make sure that your year-end contribution statement gets to you for your tax purposes.

Q. How is my contribution documented?
A. The church receives notice every time you make a contribution online.  Using the address information you provide, your contribution is recorded for our records.  You will also receive a receipt email from PayPal that you should keep to compare to the year-end reports the church sends out each January.

Q. Can you give me any more guidance about giving online?
A. When using the online giving portal through PayPal, you are asked to enter your credit card information.  If you choose to give with a credit card, instead of a debit card,  we encourage you to remain financially responsible by not accruing any debt and by paying off your credit card statement on a monthly basis.

Q. Does online giving put my sensitive financial information at risk?
A. Online giving is actually less risky than handwritten checks.  An online transaction cannot be lost, stolen, or destroyed in the mail.  Web-based giving through PayPal has an extremely high rate of accuracy, and it is also easier for church accounting processes.  When you give through PayPal, the church does NOT see sensitive details like your debit card or bank account number.
