I CAN OVERCOME ANY TEMPTATION

Heroes…”fighting the evil within” Series

Please Turn to… 1 Corinthians 10:13

1. YOUR ____________________________

èYou are tempted to do wrong

If you think you are standing strong, be careful, for you, too, may fall into the same sin.              – 1 Corinthians 10:12

èYou feel like a failure

èYou think you’re all alone

2. GOD’S ___________________________ TO YOU

God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.                 – 1 Corinthians 10:13b

èHe will stick with you

èHe will provide a way out

3. YOUR ____________________________

èYou have to rely on God promises

èYou have to act on God’s provision

èYou have to do this over and over again

“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good. A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means. This is an obvious lie. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is. After all, you find out the strength of the German army by fighting it, not by giving in. A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in. We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it.”    – C.S. Lewis
